She worked for The Washington Post nearly a decade and covered Grand Slam Tennis and Grand Slam Football, as as basketball at multiple Olympics. Nichols was awarded two Emmy Awards during her nine-year time working for ESPN and was featured in the most watched programs like NFL Countdown or SportsCenter, was transferred to ESPN after 2004. She also served as a sideline journalist for the Monday Night Football broadcasts. Following her departure from the ESPN network, her subsequent stop was CNN and Turner Sports. Unguarded With Rachel Nichols was the first show she produced and hosted. It aired on CNN International and CNN. The show was watched by more than one billion viewers around the world. Nichols was also a reporter to TNT for NBA broadcasts during the playoffs as well as All-Star broadcasts. Also, she has worked at TBS as a reporter for baseball and golf broadcasts. CBS broadcasted the Final Four. It was the only time in the award's 42-year-old record that a woman is included among the over 200 nominees.
